Reset A Direct Tv Model D12100 Satellite Receiver

If your DirecTV D12-100 satellite receiver is malfunctioning, before you call for repairs, try restoring it to working order by resetting the device. Several reset options are available -- you can reboot the machine without changing any settings; you can reset the factory defaults; or you can reset everything on the receiver. The D12-100 even has a reset option for the remote control. Familiarize yourself with some basic troubleshooting steps and you may be able to get your DirecTV receiver working again without requiring a service call.

Instructions

1. Press the Menu key on the remote control.

2. Scroll down to Reset and press the Select button on the remote.

3. Highlight the type of reset you wish to initiate and press the Select button. You can reset the unit, restore the factory settings or erase everything on the receiver.

Tips Warnings

You can also reset the receiver by pressing the red Reset button, located behind the front panel.

To reset the remote, point it away from the receiver. Hold down the Select and Mute buttons for approximately five seconds, then enter 981 on the remote keypad.

If you completely reset your DirecTV receiver, you will need to go through the setup process again.
