Repair A Grohe Bath Faucet That Leaks At The Handle

When you have a Grohe faucet that leaks around the faucet's handle, it is time to change the cartridge -- the valve inside the handle. This cartridge is a sealed part that is designed to come out when the part wears down, making repairs easy. Most faucets, including Grohe, have these interchangeable faucet cartridges.

Instructions

1. Shut the water lines under the bathroom sink to stop water flow to your faucet.

2. Take off the cap on top of the handle by prying it up with a small flat-head screwdriver. Unscrew the set screw under this cap with an Allen wrench, a small tool with a hexagonal head.

3. Pull the handle off the base of the faucet by hand.

4. Unscrew the faucet cartridge nut with a 17 mm wrench by turning the nut counterclockwise. Turn the nut until the cartridge is loose enough to pull free of the faucet's base. Lift the cartridge out of the faucet base by hand.

5. Replace the cartridge with a new Grohe faucet cartridge for your particular model of faucet. Each Grohe model requires its own cartridge. Replacement cartridges are available through Grohe or a plumbing supply store.

6. Tighten the cartridge nut with the wrench, replace the handle and tighten the handle screw with the Allen wrench.
