The Kia Sportage allows you to listen to your MP3 music through its stereo system.
The all-wheel-drive Sportage is one of Kia's sport utility vehicles. In addition to the off-road and winter weather performance and handling advantages it offers, new Kia Sportage models also come standard with MP3 audio systems that allow you to play songs from your personal audio MP3 device through your Sportage's audio deck. Connecting your MP3 player to your Sportage is simple and straightforward, and it takes only a few moments of your time to complete.
Instructions
1. Purchase an auxiliary audio cable, or locate the USB cable that came with your MP3 player. Available at electronic stores everywhere, the auxiliary audio cable has two identical end jacks, one of which fits into the headphone jack of your MP3 and the other into an audio output device such as your Kia Sportage. A USB cable, on the other hand, connects to your MP3 device with a flat, wide plug and into your Sportage with a comparably flat but much narrower one.
2. Turn on your Kia Sportage, or turn the key back toward you to enable your stereo without turning on your engine. You will not be able to hear audio through your speakers without your stereo powered on.
3. Plug the cable of your choice into your MP3 audio device. If using a USB cable, locate and select the song or album you wish to play now, as you will not be able to control song selection using your MP3 device itself once you've plugged it into the Sportage.
4. Plug the other end of your cable into the Sportage, keeping in mind that you must plug the auxiliary audio cable into the AUX jack, while the USB cable goes in the USB slot, denoted by a symbol with three arrows pointing in the same direction.
5. Wait a few moments for your Sportage to recognize your device. If you've connected using a USB cable, you will now control your song selection using the Sportage's audio deck; the USB cable gives the Sportage access to the MP3 player itself. Using the auxiliary cable, on the other hand, simply transmits your player's sound output to your Sportage's speakers; you control your song and album choices through the device, which will function as normal.
