Girls' Rock Birthday Party Ideas

Have a girl-themed rock star party.

Girls love to pretend that they're rock stars. Throwing a girls rock party calls for special activities and decorations. Customize a rock star party for a girls' birthday with girl glam accessories and colors so that the birthday girl and her friends can rock out in style.

Invitations

Invite guests to join you for a night of rock star glamor and excitement by handing out themed invitations. Since the main event of the party will be the rock star concert, make invitations in the form of One Night Only tickets. You can customize printable tickets from free printables sites such as FreePrintables.com or ticketprinting.com, or use them as a template for creating your own. Also be Include VIP backstage passes with the invitations. Design your small rectangular passes, laminate with clear contact paper, perforate with a hole-puncher and insert a string so guests can wear them around their necks. Alternatively, use laminating pouches designed for luggage tags.

Decorations

Create a diva rock star color scheme using pink, purple, black and white for balloons, streamers and table ware. Include zebra stripe or giraffe print for some rock star edge and glitter for rock star razzle-dazzle. Make hot pink and purple electric guitar shapes out of construction paper to put up on the walls. Decorate them with stick-on gems and glitter glue from the dollar store. Check party stores for hot pink disposable pink, black and zebra-stripe cups and plates. If you can't find appropriate supplies locally, check online sources like Oriental Trading.com, Designed 2B Sweet.com and ShinDigz.com for girls' rock diva supplies, including inflatable guitars and microphones. Finally, rifle through teen magazines for pictures of teen pop idols to put up, or get a child's memory board in pink or purple from the toy section or store and get help from the birthday girl and guests to arrange the photos in it. Then you can add photos of the girls taken after they've changed into their rock star glam outfits.

Activities

Naturally the main activity of the party will be singing and dancing. If you have karaoke equipment or a music video game, all the better. If not, let the girls mime and dance along to personal favorites or soundtracks with inflatable microphones and guitars. First, however, glam them up by giving them a designated dressing room to prime and primp. Make sure you attach a gold star to the door, cut out of construction paper or card stock. Have some rock star glam accessories ready for dress-up, such as feather boas, oversize or animal-print sunglasses, stick-on body gems and temporary tattoos, hair gel and colorful clip-in hair extensions. Check for these items in girls' accessory boutiques as well as the dollar store. You might also want to find some T-shirts (white, black, neon or animal print) from the thrift store and cut them up into punk shapes for the girls to pull over the clothes. To make dress-up easier, ask guests to come in leggings and tank tops. Finally, get some glow sticks or even a rotating table disco ball or colored light ball from the novelty store, dim the lights and let the concert begin.
