Decorate For A Church Anniversary

Decorate for a Church Anniversary

Churches help and guide an enormous amount of people. Thus, the anniversary of church is comparable to the birthday of a trusted friend. All should take part in the celebration, honoring and remembering the church. The day of celebration for a church anniversary usually begins with the church service and has a dinner to follow. Below are steps to create a special environment inside the church and in the area where the meal will take place.

Instructions

Inside the Church

1. Mark pews for special guests by adorning them with ribbons or bouquets of flowers. Consider providing corsages for these people.

2. Choose flowers that either contrast or complement with the colors of interior of the church. Make sure that they are well displayed throughout.

3. Consider purchasing a large banner to hang on the outside of the church, announcing the the anniversary. The banner should announce how many years it has been and an invitation for all to join in the celebration.

4. Make a timeline of significant moments in the church's history on a large piece of cardboard. Decorate with pictures and display it on an easel near the front entrance of the church so that people can see it as they walk in.

Inside the Banquet Hall or Other Location

5. Pick two or three very festive colors and use those colors to decorate the interior with streamers and balloons. Make it look as festive as possible.

6. Cover the tables with tablecloths. White is always acceptable, but if your church anniversary falls around Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter, pick colors that compliment the upcoming holiday. For example, if Easter is near the date of anniversary, choose bright pastels such as mint green, mauve or cheerful yellow shades.

7. Adorn each table with a centerpiece. The centerpiece can be a simple compilation of flowers surrounding a candle, or they can be more intricate with added figurines of angels and saints. The centerpiece can also reflect the time of year: for example, if the church anniversary is near Christmas you can make the centerpiece a miniature Christmas tree or wreath.

8. Place a laminated card acknowledging the anniversary at each place setting. On the back of the card have a prayer printed.
