Get Bags Checked For Free On Continental

Continental Airlines is one of the world's largest airlines with more than 2,400 flights a day as of March, 2011. The airline flies to destinations throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. On Oct 1, 2011, Continental announced a merger with United Airlines. Like most airlines, Continental charges a fee for checked baggage, but allows certain passengers to check up to two bags for free.

Instructions

1. Purchase a full-fare economy class ticket. Baggage fees for the first two bags are waived for people with full fare tickets. This obviously is an expensive strategy, and should be considered only if you must pay full fare because of a last-minute trip or an emergency.

2. Fly first class, international business, Latin business class or business first class. These categories also allow for free checked bags.

3. Ask for special waivers provided for active duty military personnel and their dependents if you qualify. First and second bags are free for U.S. military personnel and dependents flying with them. Military dependents traveling on official business without the service member, such as moving to a new base, are also allowed to check bags for free.

4. Sign up for the Continental Airlines OnePass Frequent Flyer Program. Visit the Continental website to join. Then accumulate points by taking flights on Continental. Various Continental frequent flyer categories allow for free checked bags, including OnePass Silver Elite, United Elite, OnePass Presidential Platinum and Platinum. Multiple flights are needed to qualify for membership categories offering free checked bags. Check your membership status online or call the OnePass office at 713-952-1630.
