Write A Letter Requesting Donations For The Royal Rangers Program

The Royal Rangers mentors young men.

The Royal Rangers is a national Christian organization that works to provide mentorship and character development for young men. The group's core principles are evangelism, discipleship, leadership, achievement and service. It does need funding, though, in order to provide the uniforms and activities, such as camping and fishing trips, for the group's young rangers. One way of attaining this funding is to write a letter requesting donations from individual businesses or organizations. A donation request letter may be your first impression to a business, so when requesting donations, you want this to be professional.

Instructions

1. Change the margins on your document to 1 inch on all sides. Then choose a professional, easy-to-read font such as Arial or Times New Roman. The font should be size 12 and aligned left.

2. Date the letter. The date should be written out completely, for example: December, 31, 2020. Skip a line after the date.

3. Type in the name, business name and address of the recipient of the letter. Then skip a line. Add the salutation, for example: Dear Jane Doe. Add a comma after the recipient's name. Skip a line after the salutation.

4. Write paragraph one. None of your paragraphs should be indented. In this paragraph, include who you are and what you are requesting the funds for, in this case, the Royal Rangers. You want to state the purpose of the letter up front. Skip a line after this paragraph, as you will after every paragraph.

5. Write paragraph two. This paragraph is where you write your appeal to the business you are addressing in the letter. Tell the business about the values of the Royal Rangers and the activities the group has for young men.

6. Write paragraph three. Tell the business what its donation specifically will fund in terms of either activities or particular section of the Royal Rangers. You can also request a particular amount for the donation in this paragraph. If the letter is going to a business that has donated in the past, do not request more than the business has previously donated. Do not forget to thank the business for its time and for considering donating to the group.

7. Conclude your letter. You can use "Sincerely," or "Thank You." Then skip three lines and add your name typed with the company you work for and your contact information, including address and phone number underneath. Print out the letter and sign your name in between the conclusion and your typed name.
