Dexter, a TV character who is a blood splatter expert, is an easy costume to create.
"Dexter" is a Showtime TV show about Dexter Morgan, a serial killer who works for the Miami-Dade Police Department. At a young age he witnessed his mother's murder, and after that developed a blood lust. His adoptive father taught him to kill only those who deserve it. If you are planning to dress up as Dexter for Halloween or for a costume party, you can use items you probably have around the house to create either his "kill" outfit or his everyday look.
Instructions
"Kill" Costume
1. Wear a thermal shirt. Choose one that is long-sleeved, with Henley-style buttons. Choose one in a dark khaki green color. Leave the top two to three buttons undone.
2. Wear matching green khaki cargo pants. If possible, choose a pair with only one cargo pocket on the left leg.
3. Add a silver watch on your left wrist and a pair of black leather driving gloves.
4. Wear black socks and black work boots to complete the general look.
5. Add accessories. There are a number of accessories you can choose to complete the look. A black rubber apron is one option. Another is a garbage bag. Fill the bag with newspaper or rags to give it shape. You could also carry fake knives with red paint on them to create a bloody look.
Work and Casual Costume
6. Wear a dress shirt in a light or pastel color. Choose one with long sleeves. Leave the shirt untucked. Roll the sleeves up past your elbows. Leave the top two buttons undone. Dexter has a casual look in his everyday life.
7. Wear light khaki pants. Choose a casual pair.
8. Wear a pair of light colored loafers.
9. Add accessories. The same silver watch on the left wrist can be worn with the work and casual outfits. Add a work badge by making a laminated card with "Dexter Morgan" on it. Carry a silver metal briefcase to represent his blood kit.
