You can have a big impact on someone's life by donating professional women's clothing. Several organizations in San Francisco collect professional clothing for low-income women to wear on job interviews. Without these donations, recipients wouldn't be able to afford high-quality professional clothes. Being able to wear attractive and appropriate outfits gives the women confidence during their job searches and increases their chances of being hired. A simple act of donating clothes can play a part in breaking cycles of poverty and unemployment.
Instructions
1. Sort through the clothes you want to donate and select only those items that are clean and in good condition. Choose clothes that you think will give the recipients confidence in their job interviews.
2. Donate suits, blouses, shoes, purses and briefcases to the international non-profit organization Dress for Success during one of their drop-off days. The organization specializes in helping disadvantaged women find and keep jobs. Dress for Success posts the latest information about upcoming drop-off days and locations (which vary) on its website dressforsuccess.org.
3. Take your clothing to Wardrobe for Opportunity, another non-profit organization that specializes in helping low-income people find and keep jobs. You can drop off clothing donations for Wardrobe for Opportunity on the first floor of Comerica Bank located at 1 Embarcadero Center. Donations are accepted Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
