A luggage lock keeps luggage locked and zipped by locking the zippers together.
A luggage lock is placed between the zippers of your suitcase to prevent anyone from opening it. Many companies manufacture luggage locks that can be reset or have a combination that can be changed and programmed to your own combination. All brands of TSA approved combination locks can be changed or reset by following the same directions. If your lock is not a TSA approved lock, the process can vary and you will need to read the manufacturer's directions for your particular luggage lock.
Instructions
1. Set all of the dials to zero along the front of the lock if your lock is new, or to your existing combination if you wish to reset the lock to a new combination. There can be three or four dials. Once set, the shackle will release from the lock housing unit. The shackle is the metal or cable U-shaped piece that is placed through the zippers of luggage.
2. Pull the shackle upward and rotate it 90 degrees, so the shackle is opposite or behind the number dials.
3. Press the shackle inward. At the same time, align the dial to the code you desire for your luggage lock. Release the shackle.
4. Rotate the shackle back to the housing unit hole. Place the shackle in the hole and attempt to push down. Since the code is still set, the lock will not lock, indicating the code is correctly set. Rotate the dials and the shackle will lock into place.
