Repair Leather Creases

Creases form in leather as a result of repeated exposure to some type of repetitive pressure or being stuffed into a small space. Leather creases are not only unsightly, but can lead to thinning the material or uneven aging, as creases cause some of the leather surface to be concealed. Fortunately, you can eliminate the creases in your leather car seat, recliner or jacket using an iron and ordinary paper grocery bag. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Plug in and turn on and adjust a regular domestic clothes iron so that it is on its lowest setting. Disable its automatic steam feature if it has one.

2. Lay the leather item on a flat surface if it isn't part of a seat, recliner or sofa.

3. Place a piece of thick paper, such as the brown paper that comprises a paper grocery bag, over the crease.

4. Iron over the paper and avoid touching the bare leather with the iron. Move the iron around as though you're ironing a piece of clothing. Tug the leather a bit to open the crease if it is very large or tightly folded.

5. Remove the paper and examine the crease. A small crease may be completely gone at this point, while a large crease may be diminished, but still present. If necessary, replace the sheet of paper and iron over the crease again. Repeat this process until the crease is gone.
