If someone tries to sell you a Coach purse with a modified or different version of this easily recognizable imprint, red flags should immediately go up. However, suede leather Coach handbags do not always have this imprinted pattern, which makes recognizing a fake bag more difficult. Fortunately, Coach uses high-quality materials and detailed, consistent stitching to distinguish its products from the knockoffs. 1. Look at the price. Different styles and sizes of Coach purses range in price from $100 to $1000. If someone is selling a Coach purse for $40 and claims that it is authentic, it is most likely a fake. Visit the official website for Coach to get an idea of pricing before you buy.
2. Examine the dust bag that comes with the purse. The dust bag is a drawstring pouch for storing your purse and protecting it from dust buildup. Coach dust bags are brown with a red drawstring and read "Coach Est. 1941" in the bottom right corner. A dust bag in a different color made from poor-quality, wrinkled materials is a sign that the purse may be fake.
3. Look for the imprinted letters "YKK" on the zipper pull. Coach only uses the YKK zipper brand on their merchandise.
4. Check for loose threads, uneven stitching or missing stitches on the bag. Coach purses are meticulously manufactured for quality. Signs of sloppy stitching are an indication that the suede purse is fake.
5. Beware of purses with handles wrapped in plastic casing. Coach relies on its posh packaging and only wraps its purses in tissue or gray paper.

8. Avoid purses with large tags that read the Coach name followed by a country name. For example, a "Coach Italy" tag is probably a fake. Also, real Coach bags never have tags that hang from ball chains. Coach sometimes provides buyers with a brown booklet titled "An American Classic." This booklet is never attached to the outside of an authentic Coach purse.
