Pelican cases are protective cases made for a variety of products including cameras, computers and other electronics. Pelican cases are also used to securely store items such as jewelry and medications in hospitals and ambulances. The exterior is made from a hard material known as polypropylene. The interior can contain a hard foam in the shape of the object that is inside or plastic pouches for the storage of smaller items. No matter what task your Pelican case has been designated for it will need to be cleaned.
Instructions
1. Wipe the outside of the case with a damp cloth. This will remove any large dirt or dust particles on the exterior surface of the Pelican case. The outside of a Pelican case is made of a durable propylene plastic material. The material is made to be crush-proof and impenetrable to protect the inside contents.
2. Twist the patented Pelican purge valve to the left to release air pressure within the case. Most Pelican cases come equipped with this valve to facilitate access to the case following altitude or air pressure changes. Lift all of the double-throw latches on the Pelican case. If your Pelican case is not equipped with the purge valve you may just lift open the latches.
3. Rub any sticky areas with a vinegar and water solution. The solution should contain one part vinegar for every three parts of water. This cleaning solution will also help remove stuck on dirt or grease.
4. Wipe the inside of the Pelican case with a cleaning wipe. Alcohol wipes will sterilize areas that may have contaminants on them. Lift any foam inserts and wipe under them and along the sides of the Pelican case. The foam inserts support the items placed in the case. Replace any foam inserts that are frayed or torn.
5. Use a toothbrush or similar small brush to clean the hinges and any other hard-to-reach areas. Dirt trapped between the hinges may stop the Pelican case from fully closing.
6. Lubricate the hinges and O-ring using a silicone based lubricant. The patented Pelican O-ring seals the case to maintain the integrity of the water-tight seal. It runs along the inside lip of the case. Regularly lubricating these areas of the Pelican case will ensure a long life for your case.
