My Psp Speakers Stopped Working

The Sony PlayStation Portable is a mobile gaming device that also doubles as a movie and music player. The system comes equipped with two speakers for stereo sound as well as an input port for headphones. Occasionally, owners may experience problems with the built-in speakers on the PSP. You can take a number of steps to attempt to fix the problem yourself before getting your PSP professionally repaired or replaced.

Instructions

1. Press the "+" and "-" buttons on the bottom of the face of the PSP to attempt to adjust the sound and ensure that it is not set to zero.

2. Press the button on the lower right that has a picture of a note on it to ensure the "Mute" function is not enabled.

3. Unplug headphones if they are plugged in. The PSP will not play sound from the speakers with headphones plugged in.

4. Plug and unplug headphones several times. Occasionally the input port will stick in the "plugged in" position, and the PSP will think there are headphones always plugged in.

5. Move to an area free of other high-power electronic devices or anything with a magnetic field. These can affect the performance of the speakers.

6. Open the PSP menu and select the briefcase icon to open "Settings." Then select the speaker icon to open "Sound Settings."

7. Select "AVLS." If this feature is turned on, turn it off. Reset the maximum volume level with the "+" and "-" buttons. Return to the "Settings" menu.

8. Select "Video Settings" followed by "UMD Video Volume." Select "+2." Go back to the "Settings" menu.

9. Select "System Settings," and then "Restore Default Settings." Answer "Yes" twice to the prompts. Press "X," and the system will restart.

10. Contact Sony Consumer Services if the speakers still do not work.
