Make Your Own Pictionary Cards

Make Your Own Pictionary Cards

If you enjoy doodling and fast-paced team games, the Pictionary board game may be your match. Pictionary is played with small cards giving one player a word he must get his team to guess by drawing it for them. Each card has five different categories and the category choice is determined by rolling a die and moving around a game board. The order of the categories changes per game version (Pictionary has versions for kids, adults, families, decades and themes) but the categories themselves remain the same.

Instructions

1. Hold an index card vertically so it is longer rather than it is wide. Use a pencil and ruler to make six equally-sized rectangles on the index card, leaving room for a border all around the edges of the index card.

2. Across the top of the first rectangle on the card, write "Pictionary" or the name of your game, such as "Max's Pictionary" or "Janofsky Family Pictionary."

3. Color in each of the remaining five rectangles on the card with a different color.

4. Write the following categories with a black marker, in any order, one on each of the rectangles: "All Play," "Object," "Action," "Person-Place-Animal" and "Difficult."

5. Flip the index card over and draw the same six rectangles on the other side. Write the name of the game at the top.

6. Color the five rectangles in the same order as on the other side, such as pink for the first and blue for the second.

7. Write an item to draw in each rectangle so it goes with the category, such as "The Pink Panther" for "Person-Place-Animal" and "briefcase" for "Object." Draw any category in the "All Play" rectangle and the "Difficult" rectangle, though the "Difficult" option should be something that may not be easily drawn, such as "apartment" compared to "house."

8. Color in the outside frame and in between the rectangles on each side of the card with the unused highlighter to finish decorating the card. Make additional cards to start your game pile.
