Sync Outlook 2007 On A Computer & A Laptop

A USB can solve the synchronization problem on Outlook 2007.

Microsoft Outlook 2007 can be a useful tool for both business and personal use, allowing you to keep your email, calendar and contact information in one location. Many people, though, use both a desktop computer and a laptop on a regular basis. Unfortunately, Outlook 2007 does not allow you to simply start up your laptop and find the information you added earlier on your computer or vice verse. Instead, you need to sync the the computer and laptop, something Microsoft did not include in Outlook 2007. Instead, you can do it yourself using a USB drive.

Instructions

1. Create a new briefcase on the computer. To create a briefcase, go to your desktop and right-click. This will bring up a drop-down list. Select "New," then "Briefcase."

2. Copy the Outlook 2007 folder. In Windows XP, the folder is located at "C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook." In Windows Vista and Windows 7, go to "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook." In any operating system, is the login name for the account you are using. If you logged in as Mary, then your account should say "C:\Documents and Settings\Mary\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft Outlook" or "C:\Users\Mary\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook."

3. Place the Outlook 2007 folder into the briefcase you created.

4. Insert the USB drive into the USB port of your computer.

5. Move the briefcase from the desktop onto the USB drive. Remove the USB drive from the computer.

6. Insert the USB drive into the USB port of the laptop.

7. Go to the Outlook 2007 folder on the laptop. It will be located in the same place as in Step 2. If the user name on your laptop is different than your computer, the username will change. If you log into your laptop as John, then it will say John instead of Mary when you look for the Outlook 2007 folder.

8. Delete the Outlook 2007 folder on the laptop.

9. Copy the Outlook 2007 folder from the briefcase on the USB drive.

10. Paste the Outlook 2007 folder onto the laptop in the same place you just deleted the previous Outlook 2007 folder.
