Get A Female Piplup In 'Pokemon Diamond'

In "Pokemon Diamond," Piplup is a small penguin-like creature with a proud personality. In battle, Piplup excels in special attack power and uses moves such as Peck and Bubble to defend itself. As with most Pokemon species, Piplup can be male or female. While gender has little to no effect on a Pokemon's battle skills, you will need a female Piplup if you want to breed her and obtain new Piplup.

Instructions

1. Begin a new file on "Pokemon Diamond." You must enter your name and gender before the game can begin.

2. Exit your house in Twinleaf Town and enter the building in the northwest section of the town. Inside, your rival will instruct you to travel to the lake west of town.

3. Travel north from Twinleaf Town and enter Route 201. Your rival will meet you there.

4. Walk west to the Verity Lakefront. As you enter, Professor Rowan will exit the area, leaving behind his briefcase.

5. Enter the tall grass around the area. A wild Starly will attack you.

6. Select the PokeBall on the right side of Professor Rowan's briefcase. This PokeBall contains Piplup.

7. Enter the battle against the wild Starly with your new Piplup. A male or female symbol above Piplup's health bar will indicate its gender.

8. Reset the game and repeat the process until Piplup is a female; 87.5 percent of the time, Piplup will be a male, according to serebii.net, so it may take several attempts. Once you have a female Piplup, continue the game instead of restarting the file.
