Macbook Features

Apple's Macbook laptop computers are popular with creative professionals and students.

Its user-friendly operating system and sleek design make Apple's Macbook laptop computers popular. The Macbook comes in Apple's signature white and has all of the best features a Mac can have while starting around $1,000. Introduced after the discontinuation of the iBook, the Macbook has undergone three design upgrades since its debut in 2006.

OS X

One of the main reasons people invest in a Macbook laptop is for the ease and facility of Apple's OS X operating system. Macbooks come with the most current version of OS X, which means photo editing, personal web pages and a variety of easy to use applications are just a few clicks away.

Built-In iSight

The built-in iSight camera can record videos and take snapshots with optional filters and effects. Use the built-in iSight with Apple's iChat for video chatting with friends and family, or try any of the wacky effects to create funny photos.

Multi-Touch Trackpad

A glass multi-touch trackpad lets you scroll up and down, zoom in and out, rotate images and navigate web pages with a few swipes of your fingers. The absence of a traditional trackpad button makes for a larger trackpad that is easier to use.

Speed

The Macbook features a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and comes out of the factory with 2GB of RAM. This fast processor can also handle multiple applications open together with ease. The Macbook also has two SO-DIMM slots that can support up to 4GB or RAM if you need even more speed and better performance.

Battery Life

The new Macbook's impressive battery life of up to 10 hours far surpases competition PC laptops such as the HP G71-340US, which has an average battery life of 4 hours per charge. The new internal battery can handle up to 1,000 recharges before losing juice, which equals about five years of average use. This means less waste for the environment and no need to buy extra or replacement batteries

Durability

The new Macbook body is made of one piece of plastic, which makes it lighter and more durable than before. Previous Macbooks had shells made of multiple pieces held together by screws, making them more prone to damage. Rounded corners help the Macbook slip in and out of bags and briefcases easily. At 1.08 inches thick and weighing 4.7 pounds the Macbook may seem fragile, but its polycarbonate body can take a beating.

Storage

A standard Macbook comes with a 250GB hard drive for file storage but also has optional upgrades to 320GB or 500GB. With that much space, you can keep your photo, movie and music library at your fingertips.
