Celebrate Your 3rd Wedding Anniversary

Give each other leather gifts for the third anniversary.

By the time you reach your third wedding anniversary, you are definitely past the newlywed stage and into regular married life. You have likely learned to trust and love each other through both the good and the bad in the first few years of marriage. Although the third anniversary is not as big of a milestone as the first or fifth anniversaries, you should still honor the occasion with something special. Celebrate your third anniversary with meaningful gifts, a weekend getaway and a look back at the past three years.

Instructions

1. Arrange for each of you to take a day off work and turn the weekend nearest your anniversary date into a three-day weekend, with one day of vacation to celebrate each year of marriage.

2. Book a weekend at a bed-and-breakfast or other simple lodging within a reasonable drive of your home. Choose somewhere with activities and an environment that you and your spouse will both enjoy.

3. Talk about and remember each year of your marriage during one day of your weekend getaway. The first day, look at photos and remember special moments from the wedding through the first anniversary, then focus on the second year on the second day and the most recent year on the last day.

4. Have a romantic dinner together one night. As a centerpiece on the table, have a set of three flowers of the same type used in your wedding bouquets. Another idea is to use three fuchsias, which are the traditional third anniversary flower.

5. Give third anniversary gifts to one another. The traditional gift for this anniversary is leather, while the modern alternate is crystal or glass. Potential leather gifts include a purse, briefcase, wallet or belt. Crystal and glass gifts include candlesticks, wine or Champagne glasses, vases and decorative items.
