Pry Open A Combination Lock

A combination lock employs a series of numbers or symbols.

Forgetting the combination number for a padlock can be frustrating, especially when you need to gain access to important items such as a purse or bank information. If you find yourself in this situation, you can use a soda can as a lock pick for a combination padlock. You will be able to pry open your combination padlock if you exert the right amount of force while performing the procedure.

Instructions

1. Cut out the top part of a soda can with scissors. Then cut out a 1-inch by 2-inch rectangular piece from the top part of the soda can.

2. With scissors, create an M shape within the rectangular shape that you just cut out. Make two slits and then create the middle part of the M by making two slanted cuts to create a very pointy part in the middle of the rectangular shape. You should now have your M shape.

3. Fold the arms of the M upward and leave the middle part of the M facing down. Then crease the top part of the M downward. You should still have the middle part facing downward. This part will be used as the lock pick or shim that will pry open the combination lock.

4. Insert the middle part of the M on the left or right arm of the combination lock and wrap the edges of the M around the left or right arm of the lock. While you push the pointy part of the M down into the shackle, simultaneously pull up the arm of the lock with some force. The force shouldn't be too intense; the shackle should easily come out. Your lock should now be opened.
