Enjoy high-resolution gaming by configuring your PS3 to work with HDMI.
Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles can connect to television sets with different screen types and resolutions, including high-definition TV sets. If you've connected your PS3 to a TV set with a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable you'll need to enable the HDMI video output setting on the games console to ensure the device uses the HDMI setting and connects to the TV set correctly.
Instructions
1. View the side or back of the TV set and ensure the HDMI cable is firmly pushed into the HDMI port. Check that the cable is also firmly connected to the HDMI port on your PS3.
2. Switch on the TV set and the PS3 games console. Press the external source selector button, usually labeled "EXT" or "AV," on the TV set's remote control until the screen shows the output from the PS3.
3. Click the "Settings" option with the briefcase icon on the PlayStation 3 home screen. Select "Display Settings" from the settings menu options list, then click "Video Output Settings."
4. Select "HDMI" from the pull-down list of video settings. Click and enable the check boxes beside "1080i," "1080p" and "720p" to set the high-definition screen display options. Click the box next to "16:9" to select the widescreen video display option.
5. Click "Save" to store the changes. The TV screen display will momentarily flicker or roll as the TV set detects the PS3's HDMI output and changes to this setting.
