A black fedora is an essential part of a Blues Brothers costume.
The Blues Brothers burst onto the big screen in the 1980 musical comedy of the same name, starring the comedy icons John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as the brothers Jake and Elwood Blues. When it comes to great fancy dress costumes, everybody needs somebody to copy and who better than The Blues Brothers -- the legendary kings of cool. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Find a partner, either male or female. This costume theme is ideal for two people and is far more effective when you are dressed as a team.
2. Put on the shirt and suit.
3. Tie the necktie in a small knot. A leatherette fabric is ideal for the tie.
4. Top off with the fedora: a trademark of a Blues Brothers costume.
5. Slip on big, dark retro-style sunglasses. If possible, grow large sideburns, or buy stick-on ones. (Jake's are thicker and wider than Elwood's.) If you're dressing as Elwood, put the harmonica into the briefcase and chain it to your wrist.
