Store Leather Jackets

A good leather jacket is expensive, and storing it improperly can cause permanent damage to the leather. Soiled areas need to be cleaned before storage or spots on the leather will become permanent. The leather finish should be conditioned to prevent it from drying out, becoming hard or cracking. Polishing and drying metal buckles and snaps will prevent rust damage. The storage area is also important because excessive heat, moisture and even sunlight may damage the leather. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Gently brush the entire surface of the jacket with the soft brush to remove any large debris particles.

2. Moisten the first cloth with the leather cleaner/conditioner, and rub it onto the finish of the jacket using small, circular motions. Wet the cloth with more cleaner/conditioner whenever it starts to feel dry.

3. Buff the surface of the jacket with the second cloth, still using a small, circular motion. Begin with the area you cleaned first, and finish with the same section you finished last when cleaning.

4. Polish the metal buckles and snaps by rubbing them with the third soft cloth to clean the metal and dry it to prevent problems with rust.

5. Hang the jacket on the padded hanger, and put it inside of the breathable fabric clothes bag. Hang the bagged jacket in a dark, temperature-controlled storage closet.
