Apply For A Job In Pharmaceutical Sales

Pharmaceutical sales representatives are responsible for visiting medical practices and hospitals to provide education to doctors and staff about medications. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this occupation is forecasted to grow faster than average nationally. Pharmaceutical companies require that individuals have a bachelor's degree, preferably in a science related field, and outside sales experience. But because these positions offer attractive compensation, competition is stiff.

1. Tailor your resume to the pharmaceutical industry. Most pharmaceutical companies require candidates to have a minimum of two years outside sales experience, preferably business to business experience. Examples of this type of experience include, selling insurance to businesses or selling supplies to businesses. Make a list of all experiences you have (paid and volunteer) that meet this requirement, and refresh your resume. 3. Search for jobs at BioSpace. This is a company that specializes in posting bio-tech and pharmaceutical sales jobs. They also post information about career fairs across the country, which allows you to get in front of pharmaceutical sales recruiters.


4. Apply for jobs at sites like Monster and HotJobs. They post hundreds of pharmaceutical jobs. You can also post your resume, allowing recruiters to contact your directly.


5. Work with a pharmaceutical sales recruiter. Check out companies like Pharmaceutical Sale Recruiters that specialize in placing potential pharmaceutical sales representatives. Plus, they won't release your information without your consent--ensuring your current employer doesn't find out that you're searching for jobs.
