Jetblue Carryon Luggage Rules

Your carry-on luggage must meet JetBlue's requirements before being allowed on board your flight.

Carry-on luggage is a necessity for most air travelers. Some manage to pack for their entire trip in one carry-on bag. Others pack an extra outfit, shoes and toiletries in their carry-on as a precaution should their checked luggage not make it to their final destination. No matter your reason for bringing a carry-on item, JetBlue Airways allows each passenger one carry-on, in addition to a personal item, free of charge.

Personal Items

JetBlue Airways understands that passengers need to travel with certain necessary personal items. Laptops, purses, briefcases and backpacks brought on board are considered personal items rather than carry-on items. Your personal item is one that must be stored under the seat in front of you and must not exceed a certain size. Personal items must be no larger than 17 inches long, 12.5 inches wide and 8 inches tall.

Carry-On Luggage

Your carry-on luggage is stored in the overhead bin on JetBlue flights. Because space in the overhead bins is limited, JetBlue requires your carry-on luggage not exceed its carry-on baggage size limits. Passengers on JetBlue Airbus flights must have carry-on bags no larger than 26 by 18 by 12 inches in size. If your flight is on an Embraer plane your carry-on bag may not exceed 24 by 16 by 10 inches. Items in your carry-on bag must abide by the Transportation Security Administration's guidelines.

Baby and Medical Items

JetBlue passengers flying with infants may bring car seats, strollers and diaper bags with them at no cost. Strollers must be checked at the gate and unless your infant has his or her own seat aboard your flight, your car seat must be checked at the gate as well. Diaper bags do not count toward your carry-on or personal item allowance. Baby food and formula are not required to meet the TSA's 3-1-1 guidelines for liquids. Medical equipment and medications are permitted on board JetBlue flights.
