In "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," Johnny Depp plays Raoul Duke, the cynical, hedonistic lead character. The popularity of the movie, particularly the initial car and hotel scenes, have led many people to want to create a Raoul Duke costume. Fortunately this costume consists of regular clothing, so a few trips to local thrift shores should provide you with everything you need.
Instructions
1. Research the look of the character through movie footage and photographs.
2. This hat is similar to Duke's hat.
Obtain a white floppy fishing cap. Duke's hat in the movie had a green interior, so cut a ring of felt that matches the brim and attach it to the underside with fabric glue.
3. These sunglasses are similar to Duke's.
Obtain a pair of sunglasses. They should have thin, golden wire rims and large amber lenses.
4. Obtain a Hawaiian shirt. In the movie, Duke wears a dark brown shirt with gold flowers and leaves. This may be difficult to find in a thrift store, but you might have luck with online retailers. This shirt will be by far the hardest part of the costume to acquire.
5. Obtain light khaki pants and white tennis shoes.
6. Finish the costume with a cigarette holder, a dark leather wristband with silver knobs for your right wrist and a watch with a leather band for your left wrist.
