Ideas For Organization

Stay organized several ways.

Many people have difficulty staying organized because they don't know where or begin. However, you have to start somewhere, even if you begin with little steps. Finding ways to stay organized will make things -- such as remembering what you have to do and knowing where things are in your home or office -- simple. Does this Spark an idea?

De-Cluttering

Removing clutter helps you to stay organized.

Separate things into piles of items you'll keep, those you'll throw away and those you can donate or display at a yard sale. Have large boxes or trash bags for all the things you won't be keeping. Look for things you don't use and things that don't work and can't be repaired. You might have old clothes that don't fit or worn-out shoes. If you have a lot of junk -- like piles of paper, broken toys and generally anything that you don't need -- getting rid of these will leave you with only things that you use and need.

Grouping

Keeping things together is just one way to stay organized.

Having similar items together in their own place will help to keep things organized. In the kitchen, for example, designate a cabinet where you keep just plates and a drawer where you keep just cooking utensils. In the office, have a place for all your pens and another place for all your office supplies such as your stapler, calculator and stationery. Grouping things allows you to always know where things are.

Organization Products

Hundreds of organizational products are available for your home and office.

An organization product is anything that helps you keep a neat home. You'll find hundreds of organization products for your office and any room in your home. These products include a purse or briefcase organizer, shelf dividers, tie and belt hangers, jewelry trays, shoe racks, spice racks and sink and shower caddies. Don't spend a lot of money buying these products; you might have piles of shoe boxes you can cover in wrapping paper or empty glass jars; re-use these containers for organizing your things.

Write Things Down

Keep a checklist of things to remember.

Always write down anything important to remember. A checklist can be a general list of things you must do or a list of things to buy, such as a grocery list, an office supply list or a school supply list. Keeping a calendar is another way of remembering things you must do, especially if events take place days, weeks or even months after they're scheduled.
