Motorola Android Instructions

The Android is a smartphone sold by multiple cell phone carriers. Android is owned by Google and the smartphone connects to Gmail and Google Talk, an instant messaging program. Users can download apps directly on the Android through the Android Market. Use of the Android requires a data plan through your cell phone provider, which allows the phone to access the internet.


Instructions


Use Basic Android Buttons


1. Touch the curved arrow pointing toward the left to go back one screen. This button is often used when searching on the Internet. The back arrow button is located directly beneath the screen.


2. Touch the Menu button, which features four horizontal lines, when you want to see a list of options that pertains to your current screen. The Menu button is located beneath the screen.


3. Touch the Home button, which is a home symbol, when you want to go back to the home screen. The Home button is located beneath the screen.


Make a Call


4. Press the Phone icon, which is a green telephone symbol, located at the bottom of the home screen. You can also press the green phone icon application located on the home screen among your other applications.


5. Dial the number you want to call by touching the numbers on the keypad on the screen. To find a contact, press the "Contacts" tab on the top row of the screen, and then scroll through your contacts.


6. Press the green phone icon to place a call after you entered the number, or touch the contact's name to place a call. Press the red phone icon to hang up the call.


Download Apps from the Android Market


7. Go to the Home screen and touch the Android Market application icon, which features a white briefcase with the green Android robot.


8. Accept the terms of service if you are opening the Android Market for the first time. When you enter the Android Market, touch an app category to search for a specific type of app, such as "Comics" or "Finance," or press "All applications" to search for all types of apps.


9. Touch the Search icon, a magnifying glass, to search for an app based on a keyword. Enter a keyword or keywords and then click the Search icon.


10. Touch an app when you want to read about it or download it. Click the button beneath "Install" to download the app. If it is a free app, the button will be labeled "Free," otherwise the button will be labeled with the app's price.


11. Enter your billing information when prompted by Google Checkout. If you are downloading a free app, the app will download without asking for payment information. After you enter your payment information one time, you will not need to enter it again when downloading another app. The app will download after your billing information is entered.
