Dress Well As An Overweight Man

Being overweight can be devastating to one's self-esteem. Finding well-fitting clothing can be a nightmare. However, with some consideration and patience, a man may easily be able to find fashionable and appropriate clothing to flatter his figure. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Accept your body in its present condition. Do not buy clothes that you hope to fit into later on. Buy clothes that will fit right now, even if you do plan to lose weight.

2. Avoid wearing clothes that are overly tight. This will draw attention to bulges that you may not want emphasized at this time. Do not wear clothes that are too loose either. They will just make you look bigger. Getting fit professionally will help find a size that is suitable for your shape and weight.

3. Find dress shirts labeled "tall." They will most likely be available only in XL or bigger sizes. These types of shirts are made to fit overweight people better. Do not fluff up the shirt too much after it's been tucked in, but don't tuck the shirt in too tight either. Always wear a belt and wear one that is wide and sturdy.

4. Buy clothes that fit best at the largest part of your body. Then have the clothes tailored to fit the rest of you. For example, if the largest area is around the waist, buy pants to fit that area and then have them taken in at the thighs, or have them hemmed shorter if they are too long.

5. Wear clothes with vertical stripes rather than horizontal stripes. Vertical stripes will make areas of your body look thinner. However, make sure the shirts and pants are the right size or the stripes won't be as flattering as they could be.

6. Invest in a briefcase instead of wearing cell phones, PDAs and other devices on your waistline. This will cause an illusion of a larger waistline.
