Care For Old Leather

Leather goods are beautiful and classic. Elegant leather pieces of clothing, such as purses and shoes, or outdoor goods, such as saddle bags, can last a lifetime with the right care. Caring for leather goods is simple, and upkeep can maintain leather goods in fantastic condition, ready for use by future generations. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Store your leather goods in a dry, room-temperature space, away from dust and sunlight. This will keep the leather from mildewing and aging.

2. Clean away dust with a gentle, dry cloth (like a T-shirt), using a bit of water and neutral soap. Dry the leather thoroughly before storing to avoid mildewing.

3. Avoid any petroleum or oil-based products on your leather goods. After repeated use, oil-based products will dry out your leather. Only use leather cleaner that's recommended by the leather manufacturer.

4. Keep your leather bags in the dust bags they came with. This will help protect your leather for a long time.
