Open A Safe With A Combination Number

Learn the trick to opening a dial safe.

Most newer safes have electronic locking mechanisms with a keypad and a key. The combination dial safe was the standard for over 100 years, and many of the older models are still in daily use. Opening one of these dial safes for the first time can be a bit tricky if you have never been taught the technique. Learn the dialing method for safe combinations and you will be inside your safe in a minimum of time.

Instructions

1. Place the combination on a paper in front of you, within easy reach. Make sure that you can read it easily without having to move it.

2. Turn the dial to the left three or four times. Stop on the first number in the combination without turning the dial back to the right. Make sure that you pass over the first combination number at least twice before you stop on it.

3. Turn the dial to the right. Pass the second number in the combination once and keep going. Stop on the second number the second time that you come to it.

4. Turn the dial to the left. Stop on the third number in the combination.

5. Pull down on the door lever and open the safe door.
