Gifts For Real Men

It may be difficult to find the right gift for some men.

Opt for something traditional or try for something original. There's wide latitude in buying a manly man gifts -- from movies to a hunting dog. Spend as much or as little as you want, but make the gift unique to his personality. Each gift will make him feel you've really given thought to his present, and he'll feel as special to you as he truly is.

Entertainment

Tickets to his favorite sports event are always welcome by a man. A boxed set of his favorite TV show is innovative. For the more extravagant, surprise him with a flat screen television. For something a little less expensive, consider a magazine subscription that reflects his interests, such as "Country Weekly," "Rolling Stone," "Sports Illustrated" or "Fortune." Similarly, he might appreciate a subscription to the Sunday "New York Times."

Sports

Many gift certificates are available just for him. Cater to his special interest and buy a certificate to a ski resort for free lifts all day or to an exclusive tennis club. For the man who's bent on body building, buy him a set of weights so he can exercise in the privacy of his home.

Tools

Most men have occasion to repair something. Get him a ratchet and socket set, a fully stocked tool kit or a cordless drill. If he doesn't have a set, get jumper cables for his car, or an "emergency kit" of a flashlight, blanket and flares. If he has a truck, he may be in need of a tool case for the flatbed.

Leather and Jewelry

A leather briefcase or portfolio is available at luggage shops. You may want to replace that worn out wallet or buy him a money clip instead. If he travels abroad, he'll welcome a leather passport case. If the man in your life is a motorcyclist, chances are good he can use a new pair of leather gloves. A luxury watch will complete his office or cocktail suit. Some men would like large, personalized ring or Swiss army knife.
