Traditionally, holsters were made from rugged materials such as leather and fastened to belts, typically worn on the hip. Today, with the addition of lightweight materials and Velcro, a holster can be worn on the hip, chest, ankle or shoulder, and offers adjustment options that weren't readily available before. Due to the difference in holster construction, these adjustments may vary slightly between different holster manufacturers, however, most Velcro adjustments techniques can be applied to many brands of Velcro style holsters.
Instructions
1. Unload the handgun completely. Remove the magazine and visually inspect the chamber to ensure no ammunition is present.
2. Open the holster body and remove the Velcro stripping.
3. Wrap the Velcro stripping over the muzzle of the handgun. Check to ensure that the strapping is folded evenly on both sides of the weapon.
4. Position the handgun into the open holster. The slide rear needs to be in line with the top of your holster. You must be able to grab the weapon without difficulty, as well as keep the trigger covered while the firearm is in the holster. Position the weapon so that you're able to retract it from the holster with ease.
5. Press down on the strap to secure the strap Velcro to the inside holster once you've determined the appropriate position.
6. Close the holster and secure the front security flap. Depending on the brand, this can include an exterior Velcro security strap, or a button strap and loop.
7. Adjust the thumb break if installed on your holster. Pull the thumb break strap over the top of the firearm, then pull through the securing loop and press down onto the Velcro to secure it.
