Last Minute Valentine Day Ideas

Last-minute Valentine Day gifts are still appreciated.

Forgetting Valentine's Day when you are in a relationship with someone is a big "no-no." You can save yourself the heartache by getting something at the last minute. Whether it's chocolate and flowers, sending love notes throughout the day, or stopping at the grocery store on the way home from work, it's easy to cover your bases.

Love Notes

Write several love notes for your sweetheart. These can be done on Valentine's Day morning. Put them around the house where they will be found throughout the day. If your significant other heads to work, leave one in their car, briefcase or lunch bag. If you don't remember until mid-morning, you can still send them love notes through email, Facebook or Twitter. If you don't want everyone to see them, text them or leave voice mail messages on their cell phone.

Photo Book

Go online to a store such as CVS or Walgreens and make a photo book. You can upload pictures directly from your computer to their photo program and design the book. Designing should take fewer than 30 minutes, and you can often pick up the finished product in an hour. If you aren't at the computer that has all of your photos, take a few minutes the day before at the computer and download several pictures of the two of you to a flash drive and take it directly to the store. Again, you should be able to pick it up within an hour, or at least by the end of the day.

Grocery Store Stop

On your way home from work, stop at your local grocery store. The pickings may be slim on Valentine's Day evening, but you should be able to still find a few items. Grab a card, a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. Many stores also sell small stuffed animals, vases and many different types of candy. Write in the card when you get out to the car and be sure to take any price tags off the items.

Restaurant To-Go

Many restaurants fill up early and fast on Valentine's Day. Skip the wait and simply pick up the food to go. Bring it home and set out a pretty tablecloth, a few candles and fancy dishes. Transfer the food from the styrofoam containers to the dishes and sit down to a yummy, easy meal. You can take your time eating without having to have a waiter hovering over your shoulder waiting for you to leave.
