Find a Sales Internship
Internships are great ways to jump start a career. Most companies now want to hire college graduates who have real-world experience. A sales internship is a great way to get experience for a career that is sales-based. Finding the right internship can be challenging but with perseverance and patience you can find the internship for you.
Instructions
1. Evaluate your goals for the internship. Ask yourself the following questions: What do you need to help your career? Why do you want an internship? Where would you like to do your internship? Do you want college credit for your internship? Can you do an unpaid internship or does it need to be paid?
2. Prepare a resume. Write a resume and cover letter. Most word processing software have resume templates you can use if you have never written one before.
3. Look for a sales internship. There are many ways to find an internship. At your college you can contact career services, your advisor, the alumni office or you can attend an internship fair. Tell everyone one you that know you are looking for an internship. You can also visit the websites of companies you are interested in. There are also internship websites that specialize in locating internship opportunities.
4. Apply for your internship. Internships have become quite competitive. Be aware that there may be many people applying for "your" internship. Be professional, polite, courteous and friendly.
5. Follow up with the companies you applied for. Call a few days after you have applied and make sure they have recieived your information. Follow up with your interview by writing a thank you letter to the interviewer. A few days after you have sent the thank you letter, call again to be sure the interviewer received it. Be persistent, but not annoying. Let the companies know that you are interested.
