Get Organized With Lists

Use a list system to end clutter and disorganization in your life.

Standing in the middle of a chaotic household can drive anyone crazy. Using lists is an easy way to organize a variety of tasks. Some household lists can be simple and reusable. Lists for managing your time, appointments and goals are better organized in a notebook that fits in your purse or briefcase. Organizing your life is a process of small steps, but there's nothing like the satisfaction of crossing a task of a list. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Identify the five biggest problem areas in your organization notebook. This notebook should go everywhere with you, so you can add items as you think of them. For each area, create a list of what needs to be done to solve the problem. Integrate these tasks into your daily routine.

2. Write your daily routine in your organization notebook. Change the order of things to do each day if it will make you more productive. For example, moving "surf the web" from your morning routine to the evening can help you avoid running late.

3. Create a list of weekly chores to be done in each room of your house. Write each list on a separate notepad, and place the notepads in the corresponding room. Tackle one room list a day. At the end of the week, you'll be ready to start again with the first room.

4. Create a weekly grocery list on a notepad. Keep this list in the kitchen, where you can easily add to it as you run out of something. Sticking to a preplanned grocery list will keep you from too many impulse buys.

5. Create a personal list in your organization notebook. This list can be used as an address book for your family and friends. Include birth dates and important anniversaries. Refer to this list when you're at the grocery or drug store, and you will be reminded to pick up a card. No more wasting time making a second trip.
