Sync Offline Folders

Transfer your offline files with an external flash drive.

Keeping a computer offline and disconnected from the Internet is one of the best ways to keep your computer safe from spyware and viruses. Syncing your offline folders can be done using an offline storage device like a USB flash drive or a full sized external hard drive. Using the Briefcase feature that comes with Windows, you can keep your offline folders in sync between your computers.

Instructions "Briefcase" in the drop-down window.

2. Right-click on any files and folders you wish to copy over to your briefcase and select "Copy." Right-click again in your briefcase and select "Paste" to copy your files over to the briefcase.

3. Insert an external hard drive into your computer. Open "My Computer" from the Start menu and double-click on your external drive to open it.

4. Right-click on your briefcase and select "Copy." Right-click again in your external hard drive and select "Paste" to copy your briefcase to the external hard drive.

5. Right-click on the external hard drive in "My Computer" and click "Eject" from the drop-down menu.

6. Insert the external hard drive into your other computer and again access the external hard drive through "My Computer" from the Start menu. You may now edit the files. When you are done editing the files and plug the external hard drive back into the first computer, simply right-click on the briefcase and click "Update All" to sync your files.
