Sew A Felt Laptop Bag

Keep your laptop cozy with a felt cover.

Laptops are the new accessories and keeping them in shape and free from damage is necessary for a long lifespan. There are several simple laptop sleeve ideas to help keep your computer cozy while it isn't being used. They are easy to customize and simple to duplicate, so you can create many for yourself or friends. Decorate them with buttons and pins, or ribbons and wild patterns. If desired, you can even use the same idea to create a smaller bag for iPods, cellphones and cameras.

Instructions

1. Fold your felt in half and line your laptop against the fold. Trace around the other three sides of your laptop with your chalk.

2. Measure the height of your computer and add that, plus half, to the outside of your first tracing.

3. Add 6 inches to one half of the fabric, either to the length or height. This will be the flap to fold over and close your case, so choose how you want to insert your laptop.

4. Cut 1/4 inch outside of your second line. This will be your seam allowance. Don't forget to keep one half of your fabric longer so it looks like an envelope with the flap up.

5. Sew the sides along the outside line. Depending on the thickness of the felt you are using, leave it as is with the seams exposed, or turn it inside out.

6. Sew your hook-and-loop closure tape to your flap and the body of the bag.
