In order for any organization to grow, the right sales people must be involved. Hiring an outside sales force can be a frustrating process of hit and miss that can cost your company money. If you put together a good plan, then you increase your chances of hiring the right people to do your outside sales, and you can limit the amount of loss you experience when it comes to hiring new people. The key is finding the right outside sales people from the beginning.
Instructions
1. Work with your human resources department to come up with a profile of the ideal outside-sales candidate. Determine the qualifications you feel the candidate should possess in order to be successful for your company including past experience, educational background and any professional organization affiliations that would be necessary to sell for your company. This profile will be the cornerstone of your entire search, so be sure it is comprehensive.
2. Research to find the recruitment companies that deal with outside-sales professionals in your field. Discuss their qualifications and become confident in their abilities. Show them the profile you have created and ask them the process they will use to help you find the right candidate.
3. Put an advertisement in local and national newspapers looking for the right candidate. Even though you have a recruitment agency working for you, it is important to get the word out that you are looking for an outside-sales professional just in case the perfect candidate for your company is not working with a recruiter.
4. Join the larger Internet placement websites and post the profile you are using on those sites. Many job hunters use the major job placement websites to find new opportunities, so you need to be on these sites to make sure all of your bases are covered.
5. Begin networking at professional organization functions and let people know that you are seeking an outside-sales professional.
