Netbook Computers Vs Laptop Computers

There's a difference between a netbook and a laptop computer.

The main differences between a netbook and a laptop computer have to do with cost, power and size. Considering such factors can help a buyer make an appropriate selection, especially for someone looking to make a new computer purchase.

Cost

Laptop computers cost between $300 and $700, while netbook computers cost anywhere from under $300 to about $400, according to CostHelper.com.

Power

A laptop computer's battery life is limited and, according to Diffen.com, deteriorates with time. Netbooks, however, usually have longer-lasting battery compared to a laptop, but a slower central processing unit (CPU) and less random access memory (RAM).

Size

A laptop computer, typically the size of a large briefcase (or smaller), can weigh as little as 3 lbs. and as much as 12 lbs.. A netbook computer weighs between 2 and 3 lbs, and can be considered an ultra-portable device, because it's much smaller than a laptop. Bigger laptop computers can hold more information while smaller netbook computers usually do not.
