Get Hired at McDonald's
McDonald's is one of the largest fast-food restaurant chains in the world. Working for McDonald's has its advantages, including discounted meals for employees and flexible hours, according to the company website. You also have the opportunity to advance your way into restaurant and regional management positions. Display friendliness, commitment to customer service and teamwork to get hired by McDonald's and many other restaurants and service businesses.
Instructions
1. Go to McDonalds.com and click on "Careers." Click "Search Now" under "Restaurant Opportunities." (You can go to the McDonald's restaurant where you want to work and ask to fill out a paper application as an alternative to completing the online application.)
2. Enter your search criteria, such as state and "Crew" or "Any" for the type of job you want to search. Select the closest city from the list and click "Open Positions."
3. Select an open position you want to apply for and click the "Apply Here" option. Complete the online application, highlighting any previous experience in restaurants, customer service and in leadership roles. List your contact information, including your phone number.
4. Research the McDonald's company by reading about it on McDonalds.com and AboutMcDonalds.com. Pick out one or two facts or qualities of the company that answers the interview question, "Why do you want to work here?"
5. Dress neatly for the interview, wearing either ironed black or khaki pants and an ironed polo or button-down shirt or blouse. Arrive at the interview at least 10 to 15 minutes early.
6. Act professionally before and during the interview process. Shake hands with the hiring manager. Sit up straight and make eye contact. Tell him why you want to work for McDonald's and answer questions about previous work experience. Discuss your positive experiences in customer service, leadership roles and teamwork. Explain what skills and qualities you have that McDonald's values.
7. Accept the employment offer from the McDonald's hiring manager if you're offered a position at the interview itself. Otherwise, wait for a follow-up call from the interviewer or follow up with her two to three days after the interview if you don't hear anything.
