Alternatives To Leather Briefcases

Non-leather briefcases are less expensive, but still stylish and functional.

A professional, stylish briefcase can increase your chances of success during an interview, for example, because you feel more professional and confident and are demonstrating your organizational skills. However, high quality leather briefcases can be expensive and unsuitable for people concerned with animal rights, so it is worth looking for possible alternatives. Does this Spark an idea?

Microfiber

Microfiber textiles used in briefcases are functional and attractive. The material is made from a very fine fiber that measures 100 times less than the diameter of a human hair, and therefore has unique properties. On the Denier scale of fineness, microfibers have to be less than 0.9 Denier to qualify. The fine fiber diameter allows each strand to be tightly woven into a strong, substantial material with a luxurious texture. Although lightweight, garments and bags made from microfiber are firm and resist wear and tear, so offer an excellent alternative to leather.

Polyester

Some polyester briefcases are suitable alternatives to leather ones. They are also substantially cheaper and yet still waterproof and attractive looking. When choosing a polyester bag, ensure it has good quality zips, strong, padded shoulder straps and handles and enough sections inside for your belongings, such as laptops, papers, cell phone and keys. Polyester has several advantages. It is wrinkle-free, stronger than many other materials, durable against ultraviolet light and protects against mildew, which can be a problem in very damp, warm climates. Got Briefcases, Revolve Clothing and Samsonite are merchants of polyester briefcases and all deliver worldwide. Mezzi is also considered a popular manufacturer of quality laptop cases and attaches.

Vegan Faux Leather

Vegan, faux leather bags are animal friendly, which means no animal is harmed or killed during their production. Faux (fake) leather, faux suede and jute (a woven Indian textile) are examples of vegan materials used to make bags and briefcases. They do not contain any animal skins or hides. Modern faux leathers are structured like microfibers and have varied properties. They are colorfast, washable and do not contain polluting polyvinyl chloride (PVC) like traditional leather. Their eco-friendly manufacturing process makes them popular amongst animal lovers and people who care about how their fashion accessories are developed. Replicas can also be made to look like famous brands, but at a much lower cost.

Canvas

Canvas offers an excellent, high quality alternative to leather, although it is worth checking if any parts of the briefcase are made of leather, because some have leather trims. Canvas briefcases can be manufactured to a very high standard and can therefore be as expensive as leather, but the benefits can outweigh the drawbacks. For example, a canvas bag can be made in a choice of attractive colors including olive, tan, green and gray. Canvas is a durable, reliable, hard-wearing and long-lasting material that can be padded well to form a thick, cushioning barrier for the contents of the briefcase, such as a laptop or phone. Canvases can also be waterproofed to form a fully repellent surface using solvent-based treatments and steam-drying.

Aluminum

Fast becoming popular, aluminum briefcases offer a lightweight, rugged alternative to softer material, including leather. According to Travel Far, aluminum cases provide more protection than other, more flexible materials. High security transport officials use aluminum carriers because they are harder to break into, so this may give the buyer more confidence and also reduces the effects of impacts damaging expensive contents. The only slight drawback of a rigid construction is that you might not be able to squeeze the briefcase into narrow compartments in taxis or airplanes, but this still means less damage to those objects inside.
