British Airways International Baggage Limits

A British Airways flight on final approach to London's Heathrow Airport, the main arrival point for the airline's flights from the U.S.

The amount of baggage you can take on a British Airways flight depends on the section of the aircraft in which you are seated. The most generous allowance applies to First Class while passengers in World Traveller are allowed only one piece of checked luggage.

Checked Baggage

The adult checked baggage allowance in the First Class and Club World sections of a BA flight from the U.S. to London is three bags, each of which can weigh up to 32 kilograms.

In World Traveller Plus, the allowance is two bags, each weighing no more than 23 kilograms.

In World Traveller, each passenger is permitted one item of checked baggage weighing no more than 23 kilograms.

Children between the ages of 2 and 11 have the same checked baggage allowance as adults plus one fully collapsible stroller and a car seat.

Infants under 2 are allowed just one bag, a fully collapsible stroller and a car seat.

Carry-On Baggage

Adults and children ages 2 and over are allowed one piece of carry-on baggage plus a laptop case, handbag or briefcase. Infants below 2 years of age are permitted one bag. Passengers must be able to place each item of carry-on baggage into the overhead locker unaided.

Baggage Dimensions

Your main piece of carry-on baggage must measure no more than 22 inches long,18 inches wide including the handle, pockets and wheels. It must fit into the bag gauge at check-in.

Your laptop bag, handbag or briefcase must measure no more than 18 inches long, 14 inches wide and 8 inches deep including any handle or pockets. It must fit under the seat in front of you.

You may check oversize bags measuring 75 inches long, 29.5 inches wide and 25.5 inches deep within the weight limit to allow you to carry larger items at no extra cost.
