Jobs For Kids Under The Age Of Fifteen

Kids who are under the age of 15 still have jobs available to them.

In order to get a regular job you have to be at least 16 years of age and get a work permit. Unfortunately, kids who are younger than that may still feel a desire to work and earn some money. There are available opportunities, assuming that someone who is younger than 15 has the ability and is willing to work.

Traditional Jobs

There are some traditional jobs that teenagers do that aren't illegal in some way. Babysitting jobs are common, and most labor laws specifically exempt babysitting from industries that need to be monitored when the sitter is under 18. Lawn mowing and yard maintenance are also common jobs for teenagers to take on, though these jobs are considered more common for boys than for girls. Also, things like selling lemonade and cookies may seem tacky, but marketing and a traditional product never go out of style.

Talent Jobs

Teenagers have talents just like anyone else, and many times young teens can use these talents to make money. For instance, there are art galleries that will feature talented people regardless of age, and a young painter or photographer (especially one that's considered on the level of a prodigy) might make some serious amounts of money. Additionally teen actors or models can make a lot of money if they can get into the proper films and make the right contacts in local agencies for catalogs and other areas. These jobs may not be right for all young teens, but they are out there.

Internet Money

While not exactly a job in the strict sense of the word, young teens can make a lot of money selling products. EBay and other auction sites have opened up avenues for anyone, kids included, who knows find products that people want and where to post those products for sale. Collector cards, old furniture, unusual books, anything that a kid has a passion for and which that kid can price (that box of comic books in the attic for instance) can be put up on the Internet (often with the assistance of a parent or guardian required) and the teen can earn money that way.
