Clean Patent Leather Purses

Patent leather is produced when a paint or finish is applied to a piece of cowhide. This in turn can make for a stylish purse suitable for daily use or an evening out. Over time, your patent leather purse will acquire dirt and other staining that may dull its luster. The upside is that patent leather is relatively easy to clean. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Empty the purse before you begin. Remove any excess dirt with the hose attachment of your vacuum cleaner.

2. Clean the exterior of your purse. There are several cleaners specifically formulated for patent leather available. If you choose to use one, follow the instructions on the packaging. As a cheaper alternative, "Instyle" magazine recommends wiping down the purse with a soft cloth and a small quantity of white vinegar. Afterward, wipe the purse again with a clean cloth to remove the vinegar.

3. Buff your purse to a shine. According to the "Penny Pincher's Almanac," one way to do this is to spray a glass cleaner directly onto the bag, then buff with a paper towel.
