Choose A Highquality Handbag

Choose a High-Quality Handbag

Whether it's a travel tote or a delicate evening purse, make sure your bag is well-made before you buy it. With little effort you can select a bag that's built to last and worth the money you pay for it. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Examine the material and consider whether it's appropriate to the style. Business totes that will function as briefcases should be made of strong, thick materials such as leather or heavy canvas to ensure durability and a long life.

2. Check the straps. Look for seams that are consistent and secure. Opt for styles that have an understrap with no unfinished or raw edges.

3. Consider the strap attachment. Look for reinforced and flawless stitching where the end of the handle meets the top of the bag. Tug gently to test its strength.

4. Test zippers and clasps to ensure that they function properly. Do the teeth of the zipper catch?

5. Inspect the lining. Look for a durable and thick nylon, wool, vinyl or leather lining. Check the inside or the side pockets for any holes or crooked seams.

6. Check for crocking, or color rub-off. Rub the bag gently with a handkerchief to see if any color transfers. Repeat with the handles, concentrating on the underside.

7. Pull at any loose threads. Confirm that they do not start to unravel a seam.

8. Examine any decorative trim such as beads, embroidery, iron appliques or sequins. Ensure that there are no cracks, chips, splits or unsecured attachments.
