Use My 5inch Caster Wheels

Adding caster wheels to an object will create instant mobility.

Caster wheels can add mobility to any object. Caster wheels are easy to install, and, if done correctly, will withstand a lot of wear and tear. Five-inch caster wheels should be used on objects that are medium sized and do not require being moved often. Caster wheels of this size are best fitted for objects weighing no more than 50 pounds. You need only a few simple tools to apply caster wheels to objects.

Instructions

Suitcase

1. Apply your caster wheels to a suitcase. Lay the suitcase on a flat surface and align the casters on the bottom, closest to the outer perimeter of the suitcase. Color in the areas with a marker where the holes will be drilled. Drill holes in the caster plates. Use the right size drill bit on the caster plate.

2. Push through the suitcase material with a hammer and nail punch. Center the casters on the suitcase. Insert each of the threaded bolts into the casters. Push the bolts from the inside out on the suitcase so the ends will not be sticking upward.

3. Secure the bolts to the caster plates with the wrench. Attach the wheels to the caster plates and secure tightly.

Furniture

4. Apply your caster wheels to a piece of furniture. Lay the piece on its backside on a flat surface and align the casters on the bottom, closest to the outer perimeter. Color in the areas with a marker where the holes will be drilled. Drill holes in the caster plates. Use the right size drill bit on the caster plate.

5. Clear the drilled holes so no excess wood chips remain. Center the casters on the furniture piece and insert each of the threaded bolts into the casters. Push the bolts from the inside out so the ends will not be sticking upward.

6. Secure the bolts to the caster plates with the wrench. Attach the wheels to the caster plates and secure tightly.

Build a Mobile Dolly

7. Build yourself a mobile dolly and apply the caster wheels to the bottom. Determine the size of the wooden dolly you want to make. Measure the boards and cut accordingly. Hammer the four pieces together with half-inch nails. You may want to apply wood glue to the joints then hammer together for a tighter seal.

8. Place the casters on the four corners of the wood pieces and color in the holes to be drilled. Drill the holes in the caster plates. Use the right size drill bit on the caster plate.

9. Align the casters and insert each of the threaded bolts into the casters. Push the bolts from the inside out. Use the wrench to secure the bolts to the caster plates.
