Find success in gift giving, even if you're not tech-minded.
Buying gifts often can be difficult, especially when buying for someone with specific interests and expertise. With new gadgets continually being released to consumers, it may be hard to decide on a gift for someone who likes these tech treats. However, there are several items on the market that are guaranteed to please the gadget guy or gal in your life.
Digital Camera Swim Mask
Swimmers now can say goodbye to their underwater cameras. This gift is for the techie going scuba diving or snorkeling. The mask's eye pieces are made of tempered glass and an integrated crosshair, which allow swimmers to focus camera shots. This 5-megapixel waterproof digital camera works to a depth of 15 feet and has two modes: picture and video. To download images or videos, just plug the mask into a computer USB port. This camera boasts a built-in 16-megabyte memory and stores up to 52 seconds of video or up to 30 high-resolution pictures. There is also a microSD card slot for additional storage. Available at Hammacher Schlemmer, it was priced at $99 in early 2010.
USB Beverage Chiller and Warmer
This cool gadget is just right for the techie who hates when his coffee gets cold or his beer gets warm while surfing the web. This gadget cools and warms beverages with the flip of a switch. It plugs directly into a computer's USB port, making it energy-efficient, and fits a standard-size can, bottle or glass. Available from Red Envelope, the USB beverage chiller and warmer was priced at $29.99 in early 2010.
ClickFree C2 Portable Backup Drive
This portable backup drive gives the user an easy way to back up files. It connects with a USB directly into a computer, and can back up more than 400 types of files. But what makes this gadget stand out is it can also back up or transfer music from an iPod or iPhone. It updates automatically when connected to a computer, and the device allows you to automatically upload photos to MySpace, Facebook or other social networking sites. Available at JR, it was $99 in early 2010.
