Set The Builtin Lock On A Suitcase

Luggage locks are one more theft barrier.

If you have luggage with built in combination locks you most likely want to have a code you customize. Many luggage makers that include combination locks with their products make them so the codes may be set by the customer. While each company uses a different tool or utensil, the process remains the same for almost all of the combination locked bags.

Instructions

1. Zero the combination tumblers. This means turning the dials to zero straight across the code level. Look for an arrow or fletch mark indicating the line where the numbers set to. Set them all to zero at this point.

2. Insert the reset tool or wrench into the dedicated hole or opening. Some locks require the tool be removed once the mechanism is triggered while others require pressure be maintained on the device in the hole.

3. Turn the tumbler dials to the number you want for the luggage lock code.

4. Remove the tool and turn the tumblers randomly.

5. Turn the tumblers back to the code you just programmed to test the efficacy of the new code and lock. Make sure the lock opens. If not, repeat the sequence and test again.
