Synchronize Data With Access

Microsoft Office Access is a relational database management system offered in the Microsoft Office suite. In Access, the process of updating two members of a replica set is called synchronization. The replica set is synchronized when the changes in each replica set have been applied to the other.

Synchronize With Replica Member

Start Access and open the replica set member you need to synchronize. Click the "Tools" menu then select "Replication." Click "Synchronize Now." Type the path and file name of the replica set member you need to synchronize with the active database. Click "OK," then select "Yes" to reopen your database.

Synchronize Using Briefcase

To synchronize using a briefcase, double-click the "My Briefcase" icon then click the database file. Click "Update Selection" from the "Briefcase" menu. Click "Update" to exchange the updates.

Resolve Synchronization Conflicts

Start the "Conflict Viewer" by clicking the "Tools" menu, selecting "Replication" then clicking "Resolve Conflicts." In the "Conflict Viewer," click a table that has conflicts from the list and click "View." For each conflict in the "Conflict Viewer," choose one of the following:

"Keep Existing Data" to keep data in Replica 1. "Keep Revised Data" to modify the data in Replica 1 and copy it to Replica 2 on the next synchronization. "Overwrite With Revised Data" to modify the data in Replica 2 and overwrite the data in Replica 1 on the next synchronization. Click "Resolve."
